During AI adoption, leadership must focus on three critical risk areas that directly impact enterprise value:

Improper use of external models or public services may result in corporate know-how, trade secrets, or sensitive data leaving organizational control (data exfiltration).
Compliance and legal risks:
Violations of the EU AI Act and other regulations (e.g., mandatory risk management, data governance, and human oversight for high-risk systems) may lead to significant penalties and reputational damage.
Operational continuity:
Decisions based on incorrect, manipulated, or unexpected AI outputs may result in revenue loss, service disruption, or loss of customer trust.

This becomes particularly important when organizations train or fine-tune their own models, handle sensitive data, or when AI systems directly impact customers, financial transactions, production processes, or other critical operations.
It is also justified when organizations must comply with complex regulatory requirements that require alignment across technical, legal, and risk management domains.
